Hello, world! This is my first testing post to see if this system will work. Nothing to see here!

**But,** whilst I'm here, I might as well do some describing of what this site is and where I will be taking it. Exciting stuff...

My old site ran on Wordpress with what seemed like a billion plugins and stuff. In general, it was pretty bad. So, I tried again - and this is the result!

I am planning to eventually migrate across all my old blog posts in to their own special section - but that will take some time because they currently only exist in the WordPress XML backup format thingy. I will probably end up writing a blog post about the process of extracting the articles back out into Markdown (unless a tool has already been written, I will probably have to do it myself, sadly).

Other things to come: updates on my projects, life and opinions on stuff.

In any case, hopefully this is the first of many good posts to come and I will keep them coming.
